TOPIC: SCORE

Re: SCORE 13 years ago #11733

It has been pretty helpful in building up some spares. Unfortunately some of the best stuff was aleady picked over when Ken got there. Some of the stuff is broken (ring and pinion, piston skirt on the '88 pistons ), but certainly enough good stuff to make it worthwhile. Thanks to Ken for all his work in gathering this stuff.

If anyone has an orphan/single '88 piston, I'd be interested to make a full set. Conversely, I might also sell the 3 10.2 pistons...

Sorry to hear about the piston. I know you were chomping at the bit when I pulled up with it.

Some of this was a case study in how 944's fail:

#2 rod bearing - check:

Ring & pinion, check:

Valve to piston contact from timing belt failure, check (missed the picture on that one!). That even put a crack in the cylinder.

I didn't expect this one:

That did nasty things to the cylinder wall
:

Still, by putting all the parts together, we'd have 3 solid short blocks, and lot of spares.

5 good cranks (including one extra):

4 sets of serviceable 9.5:1 pistons:

4 good transmissions, and 3 serviceable blocks, and lots of small spares. All in all, a good find, and interesting!
