Karl,
The movement you're seeing on the shifter is caused by the body rolling independently of the engine/torque tube/ tranny, which are all a solid unit. The shifter is nailed to the torque tube. It's actually the body that moves, not the shift lever.

You guys can find the late offset phonies for the 924S on 87-88 944's, the 89 944, the 87-88 944S. We grab these up as people "upgrade" to later ABS offset wheels.
Go to the junkyards, but spin the wheels up before buying, if possible. I pay ~ $50 to have wheels straightened/trued. I also sell single wheels to my racing customers as needed and would encourage other 944 Spec supporting shops to do the same.

Check out this video that showcases the value of closely matched cars. I'm losing during most of this video, but still giving thumbs up salutes and clapping for Michael in front of me!
You can't get better racing than this, gentlemen! And it's ALL because of our rule set management.

We have a customer who is new to 944Spec. He was racing at California Speedway and his car caught fire. The cause was a cracked fuel rail. He was planning on racing with NASA beginning in the 2017 season, but will not now unless he can use an aftermarket fuel rail (like the one from Lindsey Racing). Since there is no apparent performance advantage, we would ask that this fuel rail be allowed for safety reasons.

I agree with the Lindsey fuel rail replacement. I have had 2 fuel rails crack but luckily caught them in the shop through inspection.

This has been an ongoing issue that will continue. It is a know defect that should be addressed because of safety.

I have also had one crack, but luckily saw the leak before it got bad enough to cause a fire. I have seen cracked ones on several other cars and know of several fires due to this failure. I saw the cracked rail at 7's Only and the crack itself was barely visable even when looking at it closely.

This is a known safety related failure. I am not aware of any "advantage" of the Lindsey part, so I would agree to this change.
