TOPIC: Dyno Cap for 2013 944 Spec

Re: Dyno Cap for 2013 944 Spec 12 years ago #14322

Why would someone do it if they are going to restrict it back down? It can’t be for under the curve, because that would show up on a dyno. That seems like a very expensive way to get to the same end.

For that matter, why would one not be able to hit the numbers via legal means? If you are willing to do a full balance and coat, it seems there would be a much simpler and legal way to accomplish it.

Finally, you don’t KNOW your motor won’t be torn down. Modifications of that extent may well have indicators.

People could elaborately cheat right now. I don’t think that is our issue.

There will always be the Wild Speculators no matter what you do. Some drivers just cannot accept they got beat by skill alone.

In my case anyone behind me lacks my skills but anyone in front is obviously cheating

Once again racers... the cap isn't all about cheaters, it's about keeping costs down.

Not sure how dyno'ing my car several times a year at $100 a pop, not including tuning , is saving me money? I know my car is on the edge of the limit and could be over depending on conditions despite the best efforts of the dyno operator to make it fair so I will be checking regularly. Or should I read the rules as saying the limit is actually 140?

If you put your fuel quality switch to position 4 you'll be under the limit. I'll put 5 bucks on that. At our Dyno day, cars were gaining 3-5 hp by going from 1-2.

So what does that have to do with "pro built" motors?
