TOPIC: Interior dash question

Interior dash question 12 years, 4 months ago #13371

Maybe this is posted somewhere else but I want to make sure I understand something in the spec rules.

It says that dashboard may be modified or replaced with panels that will conceal the instrument cluster and wiring.

What if the dash is removed completely? Is that still legal? I'm looking into buying a spec 944 and want a little clarification to this rule.

Thanks

Yes, you can remove it completely, but please put something in there to make it neat!

Where are you from? We can help with your car search.

I see, I'm currently located in Texas about an hour north of Houston.

I have a fiberglass dash from GT-Racing. They're local to me, and make fantastic parts for all types of P-cars.

How easy was the installation? Putting the gauges in seems to be the easiest, but how about mounting it in the car?

That looks like a fantastic solution to a car I'm looking at

It's best to install it with the windshield out. 3 self tapping screws from the top is the way to go. But, when I installed it initially, I used one self tapping screw on the passenger side, and one rubber hose clamp connected to the roll cage on the drivers side. That held up nicely for a full season. I can provide pics if you'd like.

Just drill holes for your gauges, set it where the regular dash would go with the window out, drill 3 self tapping screws and you're done. A clean, lightweight, custom dash.

PS... I sent you a PM on the NASAForums site.
