I got a lot of questions so i thought i would start a thread devoted to my lack of knowledge...This is post 1 of a long line, so thanks in advance. Always have beer in my fridge so come on over.

The car i just bought ($1500) is a 1987 944. Metallic Green with beige interior. Smells like old rot and mold. Told the timing belt and water pump are new. (I will check). And looks like the power steering pump and resovoir is new as well. The car was sitting in a back yard and was the home for a squirrel or two. 123,000 mls. Odometer doesnt' work. Needs a muffler and rear brakes. Paint is old but no rust anywhere.

Anyway my first project was getting the rear hatch to work. The key did nothing. The switch up front does nothing as well. The motor appears to be in good condition but i would really like to ditch it and just use a key or something light. Ideas???
Took a look in the right rear compartment where the sunroof relays are and the motor is gone and looks like the microswich as well.
What are people doing with the hatch motor? I can't see keeping it but then i would be locked out.

Yes, welcome! What are your plans?

Look here for how to do external latches - much easier for a race car! Look 1/2 way down the page.

Lucky YOU ! not one but 2 of our best RMR drivers now live in the Charlotte area !

So here is what you do . have your wife / best girl invite 2 friends over get some beer and call Dave Wright and Sean Thul . Then have a "build party" !

BAM it's all good !

Right now i am parking the car one block over because i haven't told my wife about it yet. She still hasn't gotten over the wife/witch/broom joke i said last week.
I have a friend that also bought a car. His is an 1984. So count on 2 showing up next season.

Yup, you should have lots of time once that divorce is final

Careful out there!

We should have lots of 944 Spec cars at Mid-Ohio.
