Saw in GRM mag that a company in Colorado is making a new manual rack for 944s. No price was listed. Didn't find anything on their site either...

My car already has a manual rack, so no need for me. But know many people want them. Would this even be legal though? I would vote for it to be as the OE ones are hard to find.
If it's by a guy from south africa (or australia, cant remember) then we've talked to him guy before. Some of the things he was talking about doing though were quite legal like changing gearing in the racks, solid mounting, etc.

new car- 2006 late model howe chassis road race stock car.
To be legal per the current rules it would need to be direct replacement for the factory manual rack. So it would need the manual rack ratio 22:1 I believe is the ratio.
As for mounting it would need to use the existing mounting as well. The steering rack mounts would fall under the existing non-metallic rules same as all other bushings.
If the rack is different it would need be evaluated as specific part and then allowed by rule (ie steering racks made by XXX corp are legel) to be considerded legal.
