There's a loud noise coming from the rear of the car when there's a load on the diff. It gets louder as I accelerate...and then goes away when I let up on the gas...but then comes back as it slows down.
It's sounds like a loud white noise....almost like a scraping.
I just got a new clutch last month....so I'm thinking it's gotta be in the tranny or rear end? What about torque tube bearing? Would that make that noise?
Thanks

i have not seen a torque tube bearing go out yet . kind of sounds like a ring gear ... ?

Are you planning on Miller ? if so I could bring a tranny (with short fifth) and a TT . I bet Joe could do the swap in about 45 minutes

I won't be at Miller. I saw a tranny with 130k on it on craigslist for $175...I'd be an idiot not to get it.

Could also be CV joints. They sort of click however.

The sound goes away when the clutch is pushed in. It's sort of a grinding, rattling noise. It's gotta be something in the tranny or the diff, right?
It's only when accelerating or decelerating...when there's a load on the diff/tranny.
I would assume if it's the CV or the bearings the noise would be more constant...which it isn't.
It's frustrating...
