because they have metal inserts are they still legal for spec though?

Every bushing I have seen for Spec944 has the metal sleeve in the center. The busching material itself that makes contact to the control arm is Delrin. The Weltmeister bushing set is Poly Graphite and is made the same way. Just not as good in my opinion. Now if we can get the rear mount for the front control arm in Delrin.

Yes,
The reason is all the stock bushings have some sort of metal sleeve. In essense you are simply replacing the rubber for delrin but still using the same metal sleeve. Now granted the thickness of the metal sleeve could be different, but as long as it is still just a sleeve and does not replace the bulk of the rubber you are fine. Common sense is the key here.

Call Jim at Apex SPG, 651-735-7400 he has these available for both early steel and late arms for a lot less money.
