there's a way to save weight, just take out the rear sway bar!

Alignments are nearly identical. 1/8" to 1/4" toe out in front depending on track. Zero toe in rear.
New car has Guards LSD old car has Phantom grip LSD (not really an LSD) but they call it one.
New car does not have rear sway bar connected, front set at mid point (Weltmeister bars).
Old car has same bars and both set at mid point.
New car is lower by at least 1" (most likely factor for better handling)
New car is lighter (60+ lbs) so has better weight displacement (lower).
New car has narrower track???
New car has some stock bushings. May not be producing bind in suspension???

Ok,
My guess... LSD with no rear bar. With a soft rear the car will hook up well on corner exit. The LSD will also help put power down. Now the strange thing is that this should create understeer power on at corner exit, but toe settings may help that. Front toe out and rear zero toe should make the car oversteer on turn in. However the LSD and soft rear bar counter that.

What at the spring rate? 30 mm rear I assume and what up front? How are the camber settings.

BTW... On my car if I go full soft on rear bar it hooks up great on corner exit, but also pushes like dump truck. Net result is slow lap times.
My car
350lbs / 30 mm, Open Diff, Welt front & rear, zero front toe, 1/8 rear toe in. 4" ride height. 3.5 deg front 2.1 deg rear camber.
I have urethane rear bushings with stock rubber on the trailing arm and in front red urethane at the cast block and delrin at the crossmember.

Front camber is 4 1/8 both sides
Rear is 2 1/4 both sides
30mm rear bar (needs to be confirmed)
400 lb front springs

Normally no push in this car on entry or exit. I was having a problem at T9 with push at mid corner but so was everyone else. That was also my worst tire on the car.

Tire wear does not look bad. I am getting some cupping but very minor.

This is the way JT had this car set up. I have not changed the settings since buying this car. The only adjustment was to the LF to get the car to scale out better.

Hi Rick!!!
I am going to leave that bar in just in case I need it at Infineon. Hope to make a race there this year. Still working on it.

Wow... Sort of surprized by front camber. That is alot, but given how the car works I am not shock it is that much. I'd bet if you put in less it would push pretty bad on corner exit full throttle.

The only question is how much straight braking are you giving up with that much neg camber? And how are the fronts wearing down on the inside.

One thing to remmber is that the RA-1 always worked better with more camber than the R888's. I know one racer that tore up a set of R888 with that much camber.

Yes, but it also works very well as ballast given how low it sits and beign at the rear. Most of our cars get a little nose heavy once you gut them. So that is nice spot to have "dead weight".

BTW... That is one reason I don't mind the "weightmeister" bars. Sure they are heavy, but all that weight is very low in the chassis so it is good weight to have if you are going to have weight in the car.

I will give up braking anyday for exit speed. Braking is the last place you will make any time on the track. It is also the easiest place to loose time if you are trying to out brake everyone. Ask me how I know!!!!
