I have records at all 3 configs at AMP. Great track 2.25 miles and lots of fun.
It is a very long story (got to NASAforums.com and search AM and you can read alot more). To be brief the track was built by a local car guy and NASA member at the end of an Airforce base run way. It is in county island and county approve of the project. So he build the track and instantly gets noise complains from house over a mile away. His permit form the county does not have any noise limits. Anyway about 18 months in to operation the county shuts the track down right in the middle od Porsche North America doing a dealer traning for the then new Cayenne at that track. Since then it has been closed with alot of legal proceeding to open. Judge finally ruled the county close AMP improper and the track can re-open. However they will be subject to sound limits and other factors.
So right now it remains to be seen if a group like NASA can hold a racing event there given the restriction. We have no dates there for 2010, but who knows what wil come up later this year and into next year. There is a chance we will race there in 2011, but like I have for 6 years I have not been holding my breath.
Of course that does give me 3 track records that "Safe".
( in fact I am quite proud of the 1:52.xxx It was at least 1.5 seconds faster than any other lap time on the full track. No doubt it would be in at risk now.
