I hope you folks as a group do not mind a non racer asking a few questions on occasion. I have an 1989 S2 I use for DE and it has a cracked flywheel housing. I also have an 1983 8v engine with a good flywheel housing on it. I checked the P/N's through the DC Auto website, the P/N for the 1983 8v and my 1989 S2 flywheel housing are the same. If I were to order the part through DC, they want to know what the casting number is on the flywheel housing. What is the reason? Is there a major difference that is notable with the different casting numbers?
Thank you in advance for any input anyone maybe able to provide.
Rob

Looking at PET it seems that all NA's and S/S2 cars use the same bellhousing. This includes the early and late cars.

The 951/Turbo models use a slightly different housing.
