Thanks for the offer Steve, not sure yet if I am driving my car or looking for a ride.
One of the problems is going to be finding RA-1 tires. Looks like Dec 1 is the release date for them and that is cutting it very close. Will need about 10 new tires total.
The prep is not too intensive. New shocks, brake pads, rotors, tune up, oil change and nut and bolt car.
Not sure of the total hours on my engine but it is less than 50. So it is good to go. Clutch was new last year. May need to go through gear box. All my suspension bushings were new this year as well. Really went through the car for nationals.
Most of the issues are logistics. Getting enough crew members to stay up at night and fuel car and do driver changes. Need to keep track of fuel stops and how much goes in car per stop. Definetly do not want to get a penalty for spillage.
The one main spare I don't have is a gear box. Need to work on that.
Shawn Sampson and I have run the 25 a few times. We actually won our class in 05 in EO. We were about the slowest car in class but it was the tortoise and hare syndrome. We had less fuel stops due to a lower HP car. We also had less breakage than our competitors. Most of the class was Touring Cars (Speedvision and NASA) fast but fragile. We were just lucky and had 4 fast & consistent drivers.
I havent even looked at the cost yet to see what it will run per driver.
Someone could probably fill me in on that. Need to know the gal/hr burn rate for a Spec944. Fuel is one of the bigger expenses.
Anyway off to Laguna this weekend to watch the ALMS race.
I will start a thread next week for the enduro to see who is interested in driving and crewing.
Later.
