HI Guys,

Steve has been very kind and given me a Corbeau Clubman seat to save me buying a seat just for my HPDE. Steve said it was used before by his Dad during HPDE but I was looking over the CCR and wondered it the rules had changed. It implies that the seat must conform to the same rules as the Drivers seat and therefore needs a back brace? Is this right or have I just mis-read this large document.

Thanks in advance.

Jason

Hope to see you all at Infineon!

I believe the HPDE rules doesn't require the seat back brace - however if it does I have one you can borrow. What might catch you is the equal restraint rule - Passenger (instructor) needs the same level of safety as the driver.

Thanks Jerry,

I need to take another look at the seat but my concern is that it may not be possible to fit a back brace to it. However, if they want them to be equal I could always remove mine and put it back after

I have bought a new matching harness for them, what more do they want

The HPDE Rules state:

11.4.12 Seats
All seats must be securely fastened to the structure of the car such that they are strong
enough to withstand a major impact. If replaced, the replacement seat should be installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
If stock seats are to be used with a roll bar/cage, care should be taken to prevent the seat from submarining under the rollbar. Care should also be taken to prevent the occupant from hitting his/her head on the roll bar/cage.
Passenger seats must meet the same requirements, per the CCR, as the driver seat, if used by passengers. Note- The passenger seat does not have to match the driver’s seat.

In the section on Belts for HPDE there is a reference to the racing rules but not in this section.
