Got my trans back together today. I had Guard rebuild my Porsche LSD and then I swapped that and a short 5th into one of my spare open diff trans. I had to re-shim to set the diff pre-load and ring and pinion backlash but if you follow the factory manual, it isn't too bad a job. Of course the proof is in the pudding but it seems to measure correct running torque and I can engage all gears (trans is still out of the car).
FYI, when I pulled the diff, I measured the "slip" torque. I don't know the mileage of that trans but it measured 16Nm. Spec is 10 to 35Nm. After the rebuild, it measures right on the upper limit.
Now all that is left is to install the trans and do the chassis setup this weekend. Just hope I did everything right internally
