Interesting - I've never heard that.

Maybe Ron should just give me his new rotors and I'll put some layers on them for him

Never heard that one before. I've used new pads and rotors many times with no problems once the pads bed in.

The problem with Charlies story is that if you change pad compounds, you need to turn the rotors. Different pad materials can be incompatible with each other and cause inconsistent braking while the old material wears off the rotors, at least according to the folks at CarboTech. As long as you are using the same compound, Charlies story MAY be OK, not saying that it is, just saying that it MIGHT be.

Now that I agree with. Although as cheap as these rotors are, I would replace rather than have them turned.
